On Saturday, I woke up and was in the mood for a big American style brunch. I knew my husband would really be enticed to join me at this restaurant if the brunch also include some freshly brewed beer.
I found the best combination – Duke’s Brew and Que in Dalston, North London. We walked the 3 miles or so there from our flat to get some exercise first. And that turned out to be a smart decision.
My husband ordered an omelette stuffed with pulled pork and cheese and served with a huge side of home fried potatoes.
I had the Popeye, an equally large omelette but filled with slightly healthier ingredients like spinach and peppers and a healthy dose of cheese (nothing healthy about it – sense my sarcasm?).
Either way, it was tasty and completely worth how uncomfortable I felt after eating the entire thing!
My husband had the SmogRocket beer with his brunch from the Beavertown Brewery which is apparently located nearby and connected to the restaurant – sounds like they serve all their micro-brewed beers at Duke’s Brew and Que first.
The service was great, too, and that is something that I’ve found to be lacking often in London restaurants and pubs.
Anytime I miss the US, or in general just want great BBQ and an awesome selection of drinks, I will come back here. Next time I have to go back for the BBQ dinner which has already received great reviews throughout London.
