Lucerne is a must see town! The only problem is I wasn’t exactly prepared for the freezing weather conditions and snow on our weekend trip there in October.
As a result, we had to make frequent stops. Sometimes for a coffee, sometimes for a beer. Hmm…is that a real excuse? You can decide for yourself! Either way, here’s our favorite beer and brewery in Lucerne:
Where: In the old town, Lucerne Switzerland. See map.
Why you should visit: It’s right in the center near to the old town and the main town attractions. The look of both the interior and exterior of the restaurant is impressive and seems well taken care of by the owners. The beer is fresh, all brewed on site, and the restaurant is at a beautiful spot right next to the water.
Overall Comments: My husband and I drove from Zurich to Lucerne. We only spent a few hours in Lucerne as that day we also visited Zug, drove through some other Swiss towns, and made a stop at the Lindt factory for chocolate. The location of this brewery is perfect. It’s definitely a tourist place as a result. We did not have food, though we sat near to the kitchen and everything looked amazing. There’s only a small selection of beers, as I recall it was only two styles. I had the unfiltered Pilsner, which tasted great. It was a very nice place and the service was also friendly. I would have probably stopped in here a few times if we had stayed in Lucerne. Visited in October 2012
