It’s Saturday in London and your day’s free. What do you do? Easy answer.
Explore London’s non-tourist paths, drink some beer & eat some great food!
Stop #1 – Arrive at Maltby Street market by 10 or 11am. Browse through the unique stands and purchase a variety of incredible one-of-a-kind food and drink products
- Food choices: Local salami, sausages, cheeses from around the world, spanish jamon carved to order, German waffles, fresh baked croissants, fruit, vegetables & more
- Beverage choices: Espresso and lattes, wine, Gin Bloody Marys and other “brunch” cocktails & more
Stop #2 – Brew by Numbers
Opening hours: Saturdays 11am – 6pm
More about Brew by Numbers and my prior visit there: Click here
Stop #3 – Kernel Brewery
Opening hours: Saturdays 9am – 3pm
More about the Kernel and my previous visits there: Kernel post
Stop #4 – Partizan Brewing

There are some amazing hidden stores underneath the railway arches! If you follow the rail tracks east from the Maltby street market, you’ll come across a number of other businesses selling meats, cheeses, jams, coffee, etc.
All you have to do is weave your way in and out of the alleyways (heading East from Maltby St market away from the Shard Building), continuing to follow the railway arches. Stick with that plan and you are guaranteed to stumble upon other vendors.
Below – Bermondsey location of Monmouth Coffee open from 9:30am until 1pm, which will save you from waiting in all the lines (i.e.”queues”) that regularly form at their Borough Market location.

I’ve been to London a few times and have never spent much time in that area or taken the time to visit breweries. I love breweries, I’ve just not made visiting them in other countries a habit.
